America and back

So I made it to America and back. I spent 15 days visiting my family, ate some good food. It was nice. The trip is very hard. 13 to 15 hours on just the longest part of the trip is rough. I have to add an extra day of travel to catch international flight in either Manila or Cebu. Then I went to Hong Kong, Dallas, then to Norfolk, VA. Each stop has it's challenges. I was able to eat a real ribeye steak, New York style pizza, Zeros' grinder and other things I can't find here in the Philippines. I hope on my next trip I can bring Beth. It's not easy getting a visitor visa to America. The American Embassy wants to be sure there is enough reasons for her to come back and not over stay her visa. But as we grow our life here and enough time I hope things will work out. She will be amazed at the differences in life style.

Do I continue to rent or buy?

My wife wants to build a house but I think right now renting is a better option. It scares me because it would take away from my savings. My savings along with retirement can last us many years but throw in building a house can jeopardize everything. So is a mistake not to build and get rid of the monthly payment?

I chose to rent a place in upper Dicayas, Dipolog, site only seen by video while in America. It’s along a thoroughfare up the hill. It can get a little nerve racking driving my truck because of the many scooters and tricycles. My house is gated on the main throughfair and it wakes up at 5am till 8pm. People walking back and forth, many scooters and kids playing. It’s actually pretty cool. I sit on my porch and just watch what’s going on. Kids always communicate my up to the gate. I’ll give food and some pesos. It’s very lively and helps with not feeling so isolated.

What are the pro’s and con’s of where you live?

When I get back from my visit to the US I'm going to apply for my 13A visa. I'll get what I need when I'm in the US, FBI and State reports. I figured it be much easier getting them when I'm there. Anyone have any advice? I'll repost if or after I receive.
